What prompted/inspired you to join the auto industry and what do you enjoy most about it? 
Joining the auto industry was largely happenstance. While working my way through college at Starbucks, a Costco Auto Program employee was one of my regulars. Eventually, she introduced me to a part-time opportunity at the company, which became my unexpected entry into the auto industry.

What I enjoy most about being part of the auto industry is the opportunity to contribute behind the scenes toward Costco Auto Program’s success. I take pride in supporting our goals to provide a best-in-class experience in all aspects of our business and helping ensure everything runs smoothly. More than anything, I enjoy the people I work with. We treat each other like family — there’s a genuine sense of care and we support each other’s success.’

What accomplishment are you most proud of in your career?
I’m most proud of my growth within Costco Auto Program — from frontline member relations to my current position. I’ve learned so much about the auto industry, and I’m happy to have built a career with this company for more than 25 years. It is very rewarding and I love what I do.

What book, film or song has inspired you personally or professionally?
The movie that inspired me is an oldie but goodie — “The Joy Luck Club.” It’s a story about immigrant women who come to America to find success in their own ways, while overcoming cultural, Asian parent, expectations and personal challenges, such as relationships with very traditional “Tiger moms.”

It reminds me of my own experience. My parents did not speak a word of English and came to the U.S. with hopes to create a better life for me. They, like many Asian parents, hoped I would pursue a career in the medical field or law.

While that obviously didn’t happen, I’m grateful to have found my place within Costco Auto Program. The story reminds me that success doesn’t have to follow a traditional path. What’s important is persevering, honoring your roots and finding where you truly belong.

Who is someone who has inspired you personally or professionally?
Gina Paolino, our COO and president, has been a tremendous source of inspiration for me, both professionally and personally. She saw my potential early on in my career and encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone. She pushed me to take classes to strengthen my skills and pursue other roles outside of the call center. Basically, she knew I had it in me before I realized it.

Gina consistently checks in, sharing words of inspiration and challenges me to continue growing.

I’m also inspired by the incredible women across Costco Auto Program. We not only support each other at work but also in our shared passions outside of that environment — whether it’s our families, gardening or personal goals. Our strong community of female leaders motivates me every day.
