From manufacturer to brand, cars are all about performance. And in recent rankings, Subaru is still in the lead.

Subaru earned the highest grade by manufacturer for the third straight month in the TrueCar.com Performance Scorecards, receiving an A+ for July.

BMW and Toyota tied for second in the manufacturer rankings with A grades, while Jaguar Land Rover took the third spot with an A-.

The Performance Scorecards grade each manufacturer and brand on eight different measurements, the company said, including pricing, sales, incentives, customer loyalty, market share, and days in inventory.

On the brand side of July performance, the TrueCar rankings show Scion and Land Rover tied for first place with A+ grades, while Subaru, Audi and Fiat claimed a three-way tie for second with A’s.

Toyota, BMW and Chrysler tied for the third brand spot, each earning an A-.

Showing the largest gains among manufacturers from June to July 2012 in the TrueCar rankings were Mazda, moving from C- to C+ and Volkswagen, going from B to B+.

Daimler rose from B- to B, and Honda moved from C+ to B-.

Also among manufacturers, those showing the steepest declines during this period were Chrysler, which moved from B+ to B; General Motors, from B to B-; Porsche, from B- to C+; Mitsubishi, from C+ to C; and Suzuki, from C to C-.

Coming in with the lowest grades by manufacturer were Volvo, at D+; Suzuki with C-; and Nissan and Mitsubishi, each with C grades.

Earning the lowest grades by brand, respectively, were Volvo, with a D-; Jaguar and Suzuki, tied with D grades; and Mitsubishi and Mazda, each of which had D+ grades.
