A new player has plugged into the certified pre-owned vehicle market.
Electric vehicle maker VinFast announced Thursday it has launched a CPO program in the U.S.
The Vietnam-based automaker said in a news release that its certified vehicle program allows for greater, “access to premium electric mobility at a more accessible price point” and gives consumers a chance to buy “high-quality pre-owned EVs backed by rigorous inspection standards and VinFast’s industry-leading warranty coverage of up to 10 years.”
In addition to broadening consumer access to EVs, the VinFast CPO program is designed to support stronger residual values and stronger vehicle lifecycle values, the company said.
VinFast says it is one of just a few purely electric automakers to offer a CPO program. It is currently available on the VF 8 and VF 9 SUV models at participating VinFast dealerships in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maryland, and Texas.
“Our goal is to make smart, sustainable mobility accessible to everyone without requiring compromise,” VinFast North America deputy CEO Brian Finnerty said in a news release.

“By launching the VinFast Certified Pre-Owned Program, we are validating the long-term value of our vehicles, protecting our early adopters’ residual value, and offering secondary buyers an incredible entry point into the luxury EV segment backed by the best warranty in the business,” Finnerty said.
Each VinFast CPO vehicle undergoes a thorough qualification process and a 105-point inspection covering mechanical components, electrical systems, ADAS, exterior/interior conditions and other items.
The battery pack for each CPO vehicle is evaluated for optimal driving range capability, long-term durability and reliable performance.
Each VinFast CPO vehicle includes a CARFAX vehicle history report and digital inspection documentation.
Purchasers of the certified vehicles receive the balance of the 10-year/125,000-mile new-car limited warranty (200,000-km warranty, depending on region) plus the 10-year/unlimited-milage battery warranty.
They can access 24-7 roadside assistance, emergency rescue, towing and flat-bed transportation services, along with full compatibility with the VinFast companion app.
