WASHINGTON, D.C. -

A pair of luxury brands is making vehicle recalls, according to postings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The larger of the two campaigns comes from Volvo Cars of North America, which is recalling 30,929 vehicles. Included are S60 vehicles from the 2011 and 2012 model years and manufactured from June 22, 2010, through May 14, 2012, and equipped with 5-cylinder B5254T5 (VIN code 62) engines.

“In the affected vehicles, the vehicle may not alert the driver of a low oil pressure situation,” NHTSA said.

“Without being warned of a low oil pressure situation, the driver may continue to drive the vehicle until it stalls, which increases the risk of a crash,” the agency continued.

Volvo told federal officials that the OEM will notify owners, and franchised dealers will update the vehicle’s software so that the driver is alerted should there be a low oil pressure situation, free of charge. The recall was expected to begin this week.

In the meantime, owners can contact Volvo at (800) 458-1552 and mention recall campaign No. R29436.

Lincoln Recalls MKZ Hybrid Vehicles

The other recent recall comes from Ford as Blue Oval officials informed NHTSA that it is recalling 7,153 Lincoln vehicles. The campaign covers  Lincoln MKZ Hybrid vehicles from the 2013 and 2014 model years and manufactured from April 26, 2012, through Sept. 24, 2013.

“Due to a manufacturing error, the transmission range sensor may not function properly allowing the affected vehicles to be shifted out of the park position without first applying the brake pedal,” NHTSA said.

Because of the condition, these vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 114 titled, “Theft Protection.”

Federal officials added, “Without requiring the brake to be pressed, the vehicle may be unintentionally shifted out of park, allowing it to roll which may result in a crash.”

Ford told NHTSA that the automaker will notify owners, and franchised dealers will update the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with new software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin this month.

Customers can contact Ford (866) 436-7332 and cite recall campaign No. 13C09.
