In November, Zeigler Auto Group celebrated its 50th anniversary. Its gift went to people in need in the communities it serves.

The Kalamazoo, Mich.-based dealership group collected more than 50,000 food items — 51,260, to be exact — during its seventh annual Ugly Sweater Holiday Canned Food Drive. All the items were donated to food banks near Zeigler’s 41 dealership locations in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin, where the canned goods were collected.

When the food drive was initially launched in 2019, it collected and donated some 5,000 items. Since then, Zeigler dealerships have raised the total to 191,505 items.

The food drive includes a competition between the dealerships, and the big winner for 2025 was Mercedes-Benz of Hoffman Estates in Hoffman Estates, Ill., which regained the title by donating 20,629 items to the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry — nearly double its number from the previous year.

The dealership had won the competition from 2020-2023 before being dethroned in 2024 by Zeigler Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM Fiat Alfa Romeo Maserati of Grandville in Grandville, Mich.

Zeigler Honda of Racine in Wisconsin claimed second, sending 10,905 items to Mt. Zion Christian Church, with Zeigler Subaru of Lafayette in Lafayette, Ind., finishing third with 5,530 items going to Food Finders Food Bank of Lafayette.
