Subaru Announces New Senior VP of Sales

Subaru of America revealed its new senior vice president of sales late last week, appointing Bill Cyphers to the post.
The longtime Subaru executive has worked in several roles for the company since joining in 1984, the most recent of which was his position as regional vice president of the Eastern region.
Other vice president roles Cyphers served in include respective stints in sales, sales operations, marketing, distributor operations and other regional locations.
Replacing Cyphers in the role of regional vice president in the Eastern region is Mike Hafertepe, who had previously held the same role in the Central region.
Hafertepe joined Subaru 10 years ago after working for Nissan.
Subaru said it will hire someone for the vacated regional vice president role in the Central region soon.
The company also announced that Jeff Walters, who had been director of field & distributor operations, has been bumped up to vice president of field & distributor operations. Before serving in the director’s role, he had been a regional sales manager in Atlanta.
Walters’ time in Subaru sales and marketing goes back to 1992. He started out with the automaker as a management associate.
“There’s no doubt our success has shone a light on our people and while turnover is a natural part of any business it is sometimes more so when you are a successful one,” stated Tom Doll, executive vice president at Subaru of America.
“We are aware of this, and we have a strategic plan to manage our employee base as well as develop our internal talent,” he continued. “It is because of that strategic planning that we have good bench strength within the SOA Sales organization, and we were able to act quickly to make this latest reorganization.”
Doll added: “Looking forward, our brand remains strong and in an excellent place in the market, and these new appointments will help us remain focused on the continuing success of the all-new Impreza debut as well as our FYE 2012 opportunities.”
