2 Patents Filed By DMEa Offer New Ways for Dealers, Mobile Customers to Connect

Two new patents filed by DMEautomotive point to what the company calls “breakthrough technology” for its dealer-branded mobile app, meant to boost service and sales retention.
DMEautomotive on Tuesday announced its filing of two patent applications with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, for the company’s Driver Connect app.
The first patent application pertains to advanced technology that enables Driver Connect to communicate with consumers at key moments during the vehicle purchasing and ownership process, company officials said.
DMEa’s second patent application addresses methods to facilitate communications between service centers and mobile app users, such as notifying users that service on their car has been completed.
Driver Connect was launched by DMEa in February 2012, and has grown in consumer use since then, the company said, with the average app visit lasting more than 20 minutes.
“DMEautomotive has always put science and innovation first, and we’re proud that Driver Connect’s patent-pending technology is helping dealers adapt to the mobile app revolution,” said Mike Walther, president and chief executive officer of DMEautomotive.
“Its user-friendly technology is driving truly eye-opening customer engagement and is significantly boosting service and sales retention for its growing base of dealer users,” he said.
Driver Connect offers dealers a way to market directly to a customer’s smartphone or tablet, combining a suite of personalized automotive tools for consumers meant to keep them engaged and spending at that dealership.
Users can browse new- and used-car inventory, schedule service appointments, manage their vehicles’ service histories, and receive targeted dealership alerts and offers on demand.
