CarGurus debuts predictive pricing tool utilizing AI, real-time consumer data

CarGurus said Tuesday it has launched an artificial intelligence-powered used-car pricing tool that uses real-time consumer data from the auto shopping platform.
The solution, called PriceVantage, is designed to offer predictive pricing guidance to dealers, based on the store’s individual needs, market, inventory and goals.
“PriceVantage is the next step in our work to put the power of predictive intelligence in the hands of dealers for more efficient, profitable decisions. The solution translates CarGurus’ real-time data into actionable insights tailored to each dealership, giving dealers a clearer view into their current market — rather than historic trends — for the pricing moves that will drive business results,” CarGurus chief product officer Ismail Elshareef said in a news release.
“With the expansion of our AI-powered solutions, we’re focused on helping dealers navigate an increasingly complex market with even more confidence,” Elshareef said.
PriceVantage is designed to take more than 10 billion “intent signals” each month based on shopper demand and market supply and translate those into customized recommendations to the dealer.
Those recommendations offer guidance on “the most impactful opportunities to optimize pricing, delivering insights on local competition and market days supply,” CarGurus said in the release.

The solution also provides forecasts on how price changes can impact lead potential and improve turn-time goals.
It also offers VIN-level activity analysis and points out missing vehicle details.
