Carvana continued its East Coast expansion Wednesday, launching in Washington, D.C.
This is the online car retailer’s 15th market overall and the sixth it has added in 2016.
Most recently, Carvana opened up shop in Richmond, Va.
“Washington, D.C. is the largest market we’ve launched in to date, so we’re tremendously excited to be here,” Carvana founder and chief executive officer Ernie Garcia said in a news release.
“Not only is D.C. a city rich with history and American culture, but it’s also a place with a progressive populace of auto enthusiasts and customers who have a reputation for being tech savvy and early adopters. With a presence now in 15 markets, we are thrilled to further support the demand for an online car buying experience by offering our exceptional service to our nation’s capital.”
Garcia is scheduled to speak at the Used Car Week conferences this fall, scheduled for Nov. 14-18 at the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa in Las Vegas. Auto Remarketing talked to Garcia last month about Carvana's growth, F&I, approach to online retailing and more.
With the addition, Carvana provides as-soon-as-next-day delivery to the following markets: Atlanta, Austin, Texas; Birmingham, Ala.; Charlotte, N.C.; Dallas; Houston; Jacksonville, Fla.; Miami; Nashville, Tenn.; Orlando, Fla.; Raleigh, N.C.; San Antonio; Tampa, Richmond, Va.; and Washington D.C.
The company said it has delivered vehicles to consumers in 46 states.
As it has with prior expansions, Carvana is offering a full refund of delivery fees to D.C. customers who purchased from the retailer prior to this move.
