automotiveMastermind, soon to be part of a new company, has a new leader.

The automotive data and technology provider has promoted Aaron Baldwin from chief product officer to CEO, replacing Matt Leone, who is stepping down after five years at the helm.

The move comes just a week after automotiveMastermind’s parent company, S&P Global, announced it is spinning off its mobility business unit, which also includes CARFAX, Polk Automotive Solutions and Market Scan, into a separate company.

Baldwin joined automotiveMastermind in 2021, overseeing the product roadmap and strategy, and working with product and technology colleagues to deliver dealership marketing tools.

“Aaron has led the dynamic transformation of the Mastermind platform and marketing services,” S&P Global Mobility president Edouard Tavernier said. “He has a commanding knowledge of both the automotive market and the digital marketing technology landscape, which has enabled Mastermind to consistently meet and exceed customer needs in a rapidly evolving technology environment. He has built an exceptional team that will continue to thrive as he steps into the CEO role.”

Baldwin has played an integral role in the company’s executive leadership team as it built strong year-over-year revenue growth over the past four years. automotiveMastermind said his focus on innovation has led to a rapid product expansion designed to address dealership sales and marketing challenges.

Baldwin previously held executive positions in retail automotive and technology companies and was part of CarNow’s founding management team, experience automotiveMastermind said gives him “a unique view” that will drive continued growth.

“I am humbled by the opportunity to lead automotiveMastermind as CEO,” Baldwin said. “These past few years at the company have been an incredible journey, and I want to thank Matt Leone for his leadership to put both myself and our employees in an incredible position.

“I am proud of the innovative solutions the product team has delivered to our dealer partners with collaboration from our technology and commercial colleagues. It is an honor to continue to serve this business as CEO, and I am committed to continuing the culture of innovation and excellence.”

In a LinkedIn post, automotiveMastermind thanked Leone for his time as CEO, saying, “Matt helped maintain the strong culture and develop the strategy that makes Mastermind what it is today. We are endlessly grateful for his contributions and lasting legacy.”

Leone on LinkedIn called his time with the company “one of the true highlights of my career,” and said Baldwin’s “deep automotive experience, leadership strength and strategic vision make him the perfect person to lead Mastermind into its next chapter.”
