SANTA MONICA, Calif. and CENTREVILLE, Va -

Thanks to a new agreement announced on Wednesday between the companies, dealers and manufacturers will be able to include Carfax Vehicle History Reports with their used cars listed on Edmunds.com.

An advantage for Carfax-using dealers is that when they are able to offer free reports as part of their used-car listings early next year, it will provide them another way to foster peace-of-mind with potential buyers, simply with the click of a button.

There are more than 27,000 dealers and 37 automaker certified pre-owned programs utilizing Carfax.  With this partnership, they will be able to include the Carfax name beside each of their respective used-car listings on Edmunds.com.

And this can help spur greater interest. An independent study indicates that online shoppers are twice as likely to look at vehicles with free Carfax reports and five times more likely to submit a lead, the company indicated.

One of those dealers using Carfax is Route 22 Toyota in Hillside, N.J.

“Carfax Reports are an integral part of our selling process,” said John Della Penna, general manager of the store, which is part of the Bram Auto Group.

“For nearly 20 years, we’ve sold more cars for more money by including a Carfax Report with every vehicle we sell. It’s what our customers want, both online and on our lot.”

Edmunds.com vice president Brian Terr noted:  “Providing access to vehicle history reports generates trust between car shoppers and dealers, and we believe that trust makes it easier for car shoppers to buy and for dealers to sell. Our renewed relationship with Carfax helps Edmunds.com’s community of car shoppers and dealers build trust and move forward together with higher satisfaction in the process.”

There are about 18 million visitors to Edmunds.com each month, the site indicated, explaining that partnering with Carfax once again allows Edmunds’ dealer and OEM partners a more effective way to merchandise their inventory online.

“Edmunds.com is an incredibly valuable resource for used car buyers and sellers,” said Bill Eager, vice president of Carfax. “We look forward to a great relationship with Edmunds.com and are excited to see our mutual customers have their Carfax Reports on Edmunds.com once again.”
