WESTCHESTER, Ill. -

Payment services for salvage buyers on the go got a boost late last week, with an announcement from Insurance Auto Auctions.

On the heels of IAA’s successful launch of I-Pay for Apple, the company on Friday announced its launch of I-Pay through the IAA Buyer App for Android.

“We have kept our promise of bringing I-Pay for Android users,” said Tom O’Brien, chief executive officer at IAA. “We are constantly looking for ways to improve our buyers’ experience. Buyers expect to be able to pay for vehicles from us while on the go. This is another example of our commitment to continuing our investment in our industry leading technological capabilities.”

IAA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of KAR Auction Services Inc., says it is the first company in the industry to offer payment services for salvage buyers through an app. The IAA Buyer App debuted in December 2011.

Among its features is an extended bidding session that allows buyers two hours to bid without a session timeout. The app can also be customized for customers’ specific needs, and can provide real-time updates on payment statuses and other information.

In addition to the I-Pay launch, IAA last week noted the redesign of its buyer landing page available through the IAA Buyer App for Apple and Android, and IAA’s universally compatible mobile website, m.iaai.com.

Additional improvements include features such as Won History and Lost Pre-Bids, focusing on the post-sale process, which the company says offer greater visibility into the auction cycle, and help users make more informed decisions during and after the bidding process.
