LaFontaine Automotive Group is making it easier for consumers to get a routine check-up on their cars.

The dealership group has partnered with vehicle data intelligence company UVeye to deploy its artificial intelligence-powered vehicle inspection technology across the retailer’s Michigan dealerships.

Customers visiting LaFontaine’s 40-plus locations across the state will be able to utilize UVeye’s “MRI for Cars” technology through complimentary drive-through vehicle health scans.

“Technology is fundamentally changing what customers should expect from their automotive experience, and we intend to lead that transformation,” CEO Ryan LaFontaine said in a news release.

“Our partnership with UVeye is about creating a new standard for vehicle safety, transparency and trust across our statewide network,” LaFontaine said.

“By making this technology complimentary and accessible throughout our 40-plus Michigan locations, we’re giving drivers greater insight into the health of their vehicles and the confidence to make informed decisions for themselves and their families. This is an investment in the future of automotive retail, the communities we serve and the lifelong relationships we’re committed to building.”

Through computer vision and deep learning in its drive-thru systems, UVeye can analyze tires, undercarriages and car exteriors “in seconds,” it says.

“This is much bigger than just deploying groundbreaking technology; it’s about changing how people think about (and monitor) their car’s health and safety,” UVeye CEO and co-founder Amir Hever said in the release.

“Just as people routinely monitor their own health, every driver should have easy access to their vehicle’s vitals. Together with LaFontaine, we’re empowering drivers to understand the condition of their cars, making Michigan the first place in the world where everyone can receive a complimentary scan close to home.”

LaFontaine and UVeye were scheduled to launch the first inspection lane Monday at the LaFontaine Buick GMC Highland dealership.

As part of the partnership, any Michigan driver, regardless of vehicle or where it was purchased, can receive a free UVeye vehicle health scan and consultation at any participating LaFontaine dealership.
