ORLANDO, Fla. -

Edmunds.com is introducing a new tool at the NADA Convention & Expo that aims to help dealers close more sales.

Today is the national rollout of Edmunds Price Promise, which offers car shoppers special upfront pricing from
participating dealers.  Edmunds said the tool is designed to “convert more car shoppers into car buyers by delivering a higher volume of quality leads, while also jumpstarting the negotiation process.”

Here’s how it works.  If a dealer is enrolled in the Edmunds Price Promise program, he or she can offer special upfront prices on available vehicles to shoppers on Edmunds.com. But to view a special price from a dealer, the shopper has to provide his or her contact information.

That info is the sent immediately to that dealer’s CRM system.

The program also allows for participating dealers to facilitate smoother transactions by assigning a single contact to guide the shopper through the process, in addition to publishing differentiators like service offers or warranties.

The program was piloted with more than 20 dealers in four markets and Edmunds called the results “remarkable.”

Participating dealers were found to have seen their leads via Edmunds.com climb 50 percent to 80 percent. What’s more, the likelihood of these dealers converting listings into leads was anywhere from four to 10 times greater, Edmunds said.

The company emphasized that Edmunds Price Promise listings are only available to participants in Edmunds’ Premier Dealer program.

“Edmunds Price Promise tackles the No. 1 challenge that frustrates car buyers and often causes dealers to lose sales: pricing transparency,” says Seth Berkowitz, president and chief operating officer of Edmunds.com. “By providing an upfront price, our dealer partners generate an immediate positive interaction with customers and quickly build a bridge of trust as they work toward a deal.”
