LAS VEGAS -

Revenue and retention solutions provider MPi has announced a new product it says can boost inspection accuracy, and generate more profits for dealerships through the service lane.

MPi has released EDGE SmartTech, its new WorldClass Solution the company says can enhance technicians’ ability to inspect vehicles by minimizing the possibility of overlooking legitimately needed services.

Highlighting the most common part failures and inspection recommendations based on a vehicle’s year, make, model and mileage band, the company said SmartTech is based on results of the 32-plus million vehicle inspections that have been completed with the EDGE software system.

With one click, technicians can access a summary of this historical information to help them identify areas of a specific vehicle that deserve special attention, and predict service needs that can help generate additional sales opportunities.

MPi reports that a recent study of the more than 1,300 new-car franchises using EDGE WorldClass found that in 2012, the average MPi dealer “generated more than $42,000 per month in incremental inspection generated customer pay sales.”

EDGE SmartTech also helps improve inspection quality on vehicles outside a technician’s expertise, such as vehicles from different OEMs, the company noted.

“Customers now own their vehicles for an average of 11 years and drive them roughly 15,000 miles each year,” said MPi president Rich Holland.

“SmartTech ensures that the service department captures every available opportunity to service these vehicles while they’re in the bay. It enables technicians to sell more because they are finding more due to a more precise and thorough inspection.”
