TSD Mobility Solutions has teamed with insurance verification technology provider Canopy Connect in a partnership designed to create an efficient and reliable way to verify renters’ provided car insurance information.

TSD Mobility, a provider of fleet management software for rental car companies and dealerships, was acquired by Reynolds and Reynolds last summer.

Canopy Connect founder and CEO Tolga Tezel said rental car companies often struggle to verify renters’ insurance information, usually asking verbally or not at all.

“It’s a missed opportunity,” he said. “Adding insurance verification at the time of reservation or point of sale helps rental agencies mitigate the risk of total loss and creates an upsell opportunity for protection plans.”

Verifying insurance as part of the rental process allows rental agents to see if the policy lacks comprehensive and collision coverage or has a high deductible, the companies said, and ensures the rental agency or dealer has all the policy details they’ll need to file and subrogate a claim quickly when an incident occurs.

“By automating this step, rental companies and dealerships get the kind of consistency that makes a difference,” TSD Mobility president Shawn Concannon said. “We are thrilled to partner with Canopy Connect to bring this excellent functionality to customers using TSD RENTAL and TSD DEALER.”

TSD said insurance verification is now available on TSD RENTAL and will be available on TSD DEALER in early July.
