Which Automaker Creates the Most Buzz Online?

With more and more consumers taking to their computers to find their next ride, which automaker is causing the most buzz?
According to the July Social Buzz Report from Phoenix Marketing International’s Automotive Practice, consumers were talking about Ford the most as they participated in online conversation during the car search process.
In fact, Phoenix reported that Ford continued to “dominate” the competition and was found to be at the center of 1.58 million online conversations in July.
Chevrolet followed closely behind with 1.20 million online conversations generated. BMW (857,724), Toyota (803,297), and Mercedes (674,481) rounded out the top five.
Phoenix also cited a few big movers this past month. First up, Chrysler (511,020) which inched into the No. 10 spot, saw a 20 percent increase in online conversations in July.
The company explained this was primarily due to the Chrysler 300 being mentioned in a Consumer’s Report article.
The question remains: what were all these consumers talking about when referencing the big automakers?
According to the report, discussions of quality and price were strongest among the German brands.
“Mercedes, with its strong safety reputation, had the greatest mentions of safety,” the company said.
Mercedes was also topped the list for fuel-efficiency conversations.
On other hand, those most concerned with performance, were chatting about Audi. Phoenix noted brand conversations remained strong among Audi fans.
Lastly, when focusing on price, BMW was the most chatted about automaker.
