TORRANCE, Calif. -

Toyota Motor Sales USA has announced that Bob Carter, group vice president and general manager of the Toyota division, has been promoted to senior vice president of automotive operations to replace the retiring Don Esmond.

MS revealed that Esmond has been named senior adviser and will aid in the transition leading up to his retirement. Meanwhile, Carter is to head up the Toyota division and sales administration in his new role.

These were just two one of several announcements made by the company, as it outlined executive changes on Monday.

Bill Fay, the group vice president of marketing, has been tapped as the group vice president and general manager of the Toyota division. On the Lexus side, Mark Templin remains the division’s group vice president & general manager.

(Per an earlier announcement, Templin has a concurrent role as general manager of Lexus product and marketing planning division on a global basis for Toyota Motor Corp., officials emphasized. The company also noted that Randy Pflughaupt — group vice president of sales administration — remains in his current post.)

Continuing on, Jack Hollis — vice president of Scion — has been named vice president of Toyota marketing. Replacing Hollis in his post is Doug Murtha, vice president of product planning.

Next up, Chris Hostetter — the group vice president of strategic resources — has been named group vice president of strategic planning.

Explaining this move, officials noted: “Hostetter will lead a team that includes strategic research and advanced product strategy under Flaurel English, knowledge resources under John Kramer and business strategy, which will now include Vehicle Export Operations, under Nihar Patel.”

To fill the newly created post of group vice president of product planning, the company is turning to Andrew Coetzee, the vice president of Lexus customer service. The group VP of product planning position will now include advanced technology under Jon Bucci.

Filling Coetzee’s spot as vice president of customer service at Lexus is Peggy Turner, vice president of customer relations.

Meanwhile, named the vice president of customer service at Toyota is Nancy Fein, vice president of vehicle supply chain.

Moving on, Fletcher Davidson — group vice president of the customer services division — has been named group vice president of product support.
