Volvo Appoints New Execs in North America

Volvo Cars of North America has tapped a new vice president of marketing and product planning to fill the spot formerly held by John Maloney, who became president and chief executive officer last month.
Appointed to the position by Maloney is Tassos Panas, whose most recent post was as executive vice president of sales operations. Meanwhile, Greg Swetoha was appointed to fill Panas’ previous post.
Panas has been with the company since 2005, when he was named regional vice president for the Northeast region. He was then appointed to serve as executive vice president of sales operations in 2008.
Panas’ experience in the field also includes time with Ford of Australia and Jaguar Cars of North America.
Swetoha, meanwhile, comes to Volvo from Volkswagen of America, which he joined in 2008. His most recent position there was as director of its Eastern region.
Prior to his time with VW, he was with Chrysler and DaimlerChrysler. Swetoha began as a district sales manager and eventually became manager of dealer development.
