VW Recalls Jettas, Golfs & Audi A3 Models for Potential Fuel-Line Issue

Volkswagen has recalled more than 168,000 VW Jetta, Jetta SportWagen, Golf and Audi A3 models to fix a condition that could potentially lead to fuel-line cracks and fuel subsequently leaking out of the vehicles.
The Jetta and Jetta SportWagen models being recalled were built from May 2008 through September of this year, while VW built the Golf models from May 2009 through September of this year. The A3 models were built between September 2009 and September 2011.
“On vehicles manufactured during these time periods and equipped with the 2.0L TDI Clean Diesel engine, certain vibrations can potentially result in a fuel line cracking, possibly causing a fuel leak,” Volkswagen of America said in a statement. “Volkswagen is not aware of any accidents or injuries caused by this issue.”
The same day the statement was released, the Left Lane website — citing an online fan club message board — reported VW asked dealers to stop selling the models as the company prepared for the recall.
Starting next month, VW will be sending out letters asking customers to get inspection and repairs (if necessary) done at their local VW store.
The stores will examine the fuel-injection line and replace it, if need be.
All of this will be free for owners.
