MONCKS CORNER, S.C. -

Record attendance, both live and online, marked the Charleston Auto Auction’s 12th anniversary celebration.

The two-day celebration included a lender/vendor event on Thursday that featured live music, food and numerous companies offering services to benefit Charleston Auto Auction dealers.

Then on Friday, the auction hosted its anniversary sale, featuring more than 1,500 vehicles, 800 dealers and $50,000 in cash giveaways, the company reported.

Noting the country’s high demand for used vehicles, Charleston Auto Auction reported that not only was there a record set for dealer attendance in the lanes that day, but also a record set for online attendance, as 180-plus dealers signed on for the simulcast sale.

The sale included more than 500 franchise dealer trades, more than 400 institutional account units, and more than 600 vehicles consigned by independent dealers and wholesalers, the company reported.

“What a great sale! We sold a record number of vehicles (1,002) and we had our best turnout ever,” said Laura Taylor, general manager of the Charleston Auto Auction.

Also, $50,000 in cash was given away to 21 dealers who earned tickets for every vehicle bought or sold over the last 10 weeks; the amounts won by each ranged from $250 to $10,000.

“When you count the two early bird drawings and the money given away at the conclusion of the sale, we awarded our dealers $51,150 all in one day,” Taylor said. “Those not lucky enough to win any money more than likely had a great day buying and selling. I think everyone left the sale with a smile.”
