60 Million Reports & Counting for AiM Vehicle Inspections

With her dream car sitting at a dealership in Michigan, an Alaska resident called for a vehicle inspection by Alliance Inspection Management, which ended up becoming the company’s 60-millionth report.
The milestone inspection for AiM was ordered by Kathy Lewis of Anchorage, for a 2010 Chrysler 300 located at Sterling Heights Dodge in Michigan, more than 3,800 miles away.
“AiM emailed the condition report to me within a couple of business days,” Lewis said. “It was a real good report — it got an A.”
AiM said its process assigns a letter grade — A, B, C, D or F — to vehicles it inspects, reflecting the current condition of the car or truck. In Lewis’ case, the four-year-old car with just over 20,000 miles, in excellent running condition and with no body damage, received high marks after going through AiM’s 150-point inspection.
AiM began offering vehicle inspections to consumers in 2010. The reports help buyers make decisions via online marketplaces, the company said, and aid sellers “by providing transparency to the condition of the vehicle, reducing transportation costs and helping companies make better decisions farther upstream when deciding when and where to remarket their inventory.”
AiM employs a network of 400 full-time inspectors who provide independent, third-party condition reports on vehicles new and used, inspecting body panels, interiors, tires and more.
For each vehicle inspected, the company provides a comprehensive, electronic condition report, a “virtual vehicle” with information and photos that allows potential buyers to review and analyze a car prior to purchase.
Most of its inspections have been performed for auto manufacturers, dealers, captive finance companies, auction houses, and transportation companies, the company said, verifying the condition of new and used, off-lease and fleet vehicles at assembly plants, rail yards, ports, auction sites and dealerships across the country.
