ACI Transport’s stock in trade has always been getting vehicles from one place to another.

Now it’s giving them a place to stay, too.

The freight brokerage firm specializing in coordinating multimodal transportation of vehicles and general commodity freight is expanding its offerings to include vehicle storage and freight warehousing services.

CEO Gary Horton said ACI has “transitioned from offering ad-hoc storage and warehousing solutions to formalizing it as a permanent, scalable service offering within our business.”

In a news release, the company called the move a “strategic shift” to establish itself as a comprehensive end-to-end partner for shippers and carriers.

“As the logistics industry navigates rapid change, our clients have made it clear that storage is no longer a secondary need,” Horton said. “It is a critical component of their logistics strategy. Committed to delivering meaningful improvement for our clients, we saw this heightened demand as an opportunity to adapt our offerings to help them solve the challenges they are facing.”

Integrating secure, reliable storage and warehousing directly into ACI’s logistics system allows companies to reduce asset downtime and create a more efficient transition from storage to transport, the company said, adding it will offer options to meet the needs of a broad range of industries — from high-turnover vehicle fleets to specialized, climate-sensitive industrial equipment.

ACI said it has plans to enhance its by introducing on-site maintenance services for vehicle storage for “a true one-stop hub” for fleet management.
