Black Book: Northeast Snowstorms to Bump up Wholesale, Retail Prices

One day after the National Automobile Dealers Association reiterated how it is continuing to support dealers affected by last fall’s Hurricane Sandy just yesterday, Black Book reported the recent Northeast snowstorms have had a “ripple effect” on the industry.
Black Book explained, “A ripple effect may soon be felt across the Northeast auto industry as a result of the wicked weather that’s continuously rolled through the Northeast.
“Since the middle of January, New England has experienced a series of blizzards that has kept car buyers out of retail showrooms and wholesale buyers out of the auction lanes.”
And according to managing editor Ricky Beggs, prices on vehicles across nearly every car and truck segment might soon see a “slight bump” in wholesale values because of pent-up demand in the auctions.
And Black Book also noted that dealers might feel this “ripple effect” in retail showrooms, as well.
And this potential price bump is comings at the springtime selling season, which normally sees wholesale prices rise around this time.
“Because of these combined forces, the Northeast might see higher-than-normal prices during the coming weeks,” Black Book contends.
