DAA Northwest Anniversary Sale Fundraiser in Fall Spurs New Promotional Event

An offering at DAA Northwest’s 20th Anniversary Fundraiser Auction this past November led to the development of a new promotional event, auction officials say.
At the fundraiser last fall, the auction offered an item new to the lanes: An Evening with the Cronkites, a musical act whose members include DAA’s vice president Greg Mahugh and e-commerce manager Pat Simmons. This item was offered to help raise funds for local charities.
Legacy Ford and McCurley Integrity Dealerships purchased the Evening with the Cronkites and recently held a promotional event in conjunction with the concert.
The two dealerships worked with auction staff to create “FebFest,” a two-day promotional sale that took place Feb. 27-28 and featured Legacy and McCurley consignment in a Wednesday afternoon sale, the companies explained.
“FebFest produced a red-hot market,” said Josh Dykes of Legacy. “Buyers packed the lanes and were excited about attending the party afterward.”
Following the 82-percent Wednesday sale, dealers enjoyed a pub-like setting, hot appetizers, beverages and live music with the Cronkites in the auction arena.
“It was a great way to top-off an amazing sale,” said Ken Shoemake of McCurley Integrity Dealerships. “A number of managers and sales people from our stores in Pasco, Wash., were here to participate in the sale and the fun that followed.”
DAA’s Bob McConkey also expressed his enthusiasm for the event and the partnership that made it happen.
“In many ways, this was like a mini-Rock & Roll Sale,” said McConkey. “After Wednesday’s successful sale and party and 70 percent results on Thursday, it was clear to me that FebFest should be on our promotional event calendar in the years to come.”
DAA Northwest is a ServNet auction, powered by Auction Edge.
Together with sister auctions KCI Kansas City and EPI El Paso, DAA is a member of the McConkey Auction Group.
