Days’ Supply of Used Models Tops 50 for Just Second Time in Two Years

CNW Research indicated that the days’ supply of used vehicles is moving up this month, topping 50 days for only the second time in more than two years.
According to the firm’s February edition of its Retail Automotive Summary, the current level also is 13 percent higher than February of last year, "But well within the ideal range,” CNW president Art Spinella said.
The supply level stayed near 50 days through the fourth quarter of last year. The reading still has a bit to climb to reach the recent high in CNW’s data. Back in February of 2010, the supply level surpassed 56 days before retreating and turning back up again by October of that year when it eclipsed 54 days, the last time that’s happened.
Turning back to the current reading, Spinella noted the supply of cars versus trucks continues to narrow “with a slightly higher figure for cars.”
