STAMFORD, Conn. –

Gas prices remain stable and the summer family travel season is underway, two factors that may have contributed to some larger segments showing the biggest auction price increases in June.

While wholesale values saw an increase of 0.9 percent overall when compared to May, prices for full-size SUV and luxury full-size sedans were among the leaders of the pack for price spikes this past month.

According to the latest RVI Market Update, full-size SUVs saw a rise of 3.3 percent from May and 6.6 percent year-over-year.

And the luxury full-size sedans rose by 3 percent from May, despite falling 3.5 percent year-over-year.

(The full-size van segment led all sequential gains, as its price was up 4.1 percent from May.)

Gar prices rose to $3.69 a gallon in June, but this number was far off from the high gas prices seen in 2012, perhaps contributing to retention levels for larger SUVs.

And though prices in June were up 2.9 percent year-over-year, some segments saw considerable rate downturns.

The sports cars and luxury coupes saw the biggest price declines in June. First up, the sports car segment saw a 4.5-percent decrease from May and a 3.7-percent decrease year-over-year.

Luxury coupes saw a 2.1-percent decrease from May and a 1-percent decline year-over-year.
