The National Auto Auction Association has postponed its annual convention, which had been set for Sept. 28-30 in Chicago.
In an alert sent to members, NAAA said: “The Executive Committee of the NAAA remains steadfast in delivering best in class content and experience to our members, associate members, partners, sponsors and friends.
“Based upon broad based feedback from those important constituents, but most importantly being absolute resolute in our ability to deliver that content and experience safely, the Executive Committee has decided to postpone our annual NAAA convention,” the association continued.
NAAA said it plans to host a convention “at a time when it is safe for everyone to attend,” but did not specify when that would be.
“The Executive Committee did not make this decision lightly. Thank you for your continued dedication, hard work, and willingness to adapt during this ever-evolving climate,” the association said. “Your innovation, resourcefulness, and teamwork have kept our industry on the road to success, and we all look forward to continued progress during these unprecedented times.”
The association said it is still sorting out logistics and will provide more information on that as well as the return of monies at a later date.
NAAA cancelled its 2020 convention, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
And the association isn't the only large organization to make a decision like this one.
The Consumer Bankers Association moved its CBA LIVE this August from in-person to online. The National Automobile Dealers Association did the same with its annual convention earlier this year.
And the New York International Auto Show last month was cancelled.
