STAMFORD, Conn. -

When looking at the September’s wholesale pricing trends included in the latest RVI Market Update, one of the highlights of the month was the full-size SUV class.

According to the report released Tuesday afternoon by RVI Analytical Services, full-size SUVs led all year-over-year increases during September, as their prices went up 9.7 percent. The segment was also third on the list of strongest month-over-month gains, with prices going up 1.8 percent.

Another highlight from the RVI analysis was the sports car class. This segment had the second-highest month-over-month increase at 3.7 percent — small pickups were No. 1 with a 5.5-percent increase — and sports cars also had the second-best year-over-year increase (up 8.4 percent).

SUVs, in general, were well-represented among sequential price upticks. Small SUV prices and luxury SUV prices both climbed 1.6 percent, putting these segments in a tie for fourth-highest month-over-month increase.

Overall, wholesale values last month climbed 3.4 percent compared to September 2011 and moved 0.8 percent higher from August. (RVI looks at seasonally adjusted values for vehicles two- to five years old)
