Auto Remarketing is recognizing the 2026 Women in Remarketing honorees in the April edition of the magazine and has been posting Q&As with each of these outstanding leaders on the website throughout the month.

Concluding this series is our Q&A with Tina Wilson, who is fleet/lease manager at McConkey Auction Group/DAA Seattle.

The Women in Remarketing program is presented by Ally.

What prompted/inspired you to join the auto industry and what do you enjoy most about it?

I was conducting the typical job search at the time, working in the aerospace industry and seeking something that felt more fulfilling and motivating. I came across an ad for a check‑in clerk position at Puget Sound Auto Auction and decided to see what it was all about. Coincidentally, a friend from high school worked there and absolutely loved it, which gave me even more confidence to explore the opportunity. By the end of the day, I had a job offer.

After experiencing my first auction, I was hooked. No two days were ever the same, and the energy of auction day quickly became my favorite part of the week. That sense of accomplishment and excitement has stayed with me ever since.

What is the top trend you’re watching in the used-car industry this year?
My focus is always on used‑car pricing. Understanding market values — and knowing what works and what doesn’t work in our specific market — is pivotal to our success and the success of our clients. Staying ahead of trends, recognizing shifts in demand, and helping our partners position their inventory strategically has become a core part of the value I bring to our operation.

What accomplishment are you most proud of in your career?

I am most proud of my time and work with DAA Seattle. When McConkey Auction Group opened the location in 2013, we were operating with a small core team and running only a couple of hundred vehicles a week. Everyone wore multiple hats, doing whatever needed to be done to make auction day a success.

Because I had previous commercial account experience, I was able to step in as our first rental and repossession units started arriving, taking on that responsibility during a pivotal time in our growth.

As the volume increased, so did the opportunities — and I’ve had the privilege of building and developing a commercial accounts team that I am deeply proud of. Watching the operation grow from those early days into what it is now has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.

What book, film or song has inspired you personally or professionally?
Professionally, the book “Unreasonable Hospitality” by Will Guidara has had the greatest impact on me. It’s a powerful reminder that exceptional customer service is something we are all capable of delivering — and that small, thoughtful actions can create meaningful experiences for the people we serve.

Personally, I’m a music person through and through. I keep a playlist on Spotify with more than 400 songs that I’ve titled, “My life… unapologetically.” Every track represents a core memory, a moment, or a feeling that has shaped who I am. It’s like a soundtrack to my life, and it’s one of my favorite things to return to.

Who is someone who has inspired you personally or professionally?
Professionally, without a doubt, the greatest influence on me has been the entire team at McConkey Auction Group. This group of people will smile and laugh with you on the days when everything is running smoothly, and they will jump into the trenches with you when things just aren’t coming together. The culture here — rooted in servant leadership and teamwork — truly starts at the top and is reflected in how we show up for one another every day.

Personally, I would give a shout‑out to my daughters. They inspire me to be good, kind, and grounded, and they remind me daily of what really matters. They are the heartbeat behind everything I do.
