Who Has the Pricier Car: Batman or 007?

Batman has defeated James Bond. Well, at least when it comes to their cars.
Barrett-Jackson announced Tuesday that the original 1966 TV series Batmobile sold for a cool $4.62 million at the company’s 42nd annual Scottsdale, Ariz., auction earlier this month.
That chunk of change broke the world record for the highest sale price ever for a TV/movie car, according to Barrett-Jackson. This sum eclipsed 007’s famous ride and previous record-holder — the Aston Martin DB5 that Sean Connery drove in the “Goldfinger” movie — by $11,500.
The sale was Jan. 19, but Barrett-Jackson said it “decided to announce the news only after verifying the records.”
Speaking of records, the company also said it is working with the Guinness Book of World Records to add the Caped Crusader’s ride to their list.
“The 1966 Batmobile is a true piece of Americana and fans around the world were curious to see what it would sell for,” said Barrett-Jackson chairman and chief executive officer Craig Jackson.
“We are so proud of the record it set, but more importantly, we couldn't be happier to help find a new home for such a significant and legendary piece of TV and movie history in front of a record crowd for a Saturday auction and the SPEED TV audience,” he added.
Now, as far as the latest installments of their respective movie series, it’s a toss-up.
007’s “Skyfall” has the edge over the Batman’s “The Dark Knight Rises,” with five Oscar nominations, but the Batman flick has won the box office battle by a substantial margin, according to the Internet Movie Database.
