AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Chrysler announced Monday that it is unveiling new corporate phone numbers for customer service. What makes these new lines so special? Each one is brand dedicated.

Company officials gave the credit for this new idea to Fiat, from whom they adopted it.

More specifically, nameplate executives described the reason for the new strategy as "tearing a page out of Fiat's customer-care approach."

The new numbers are:

— 800-CHRYSLER (800-247-9753).

— 877-IAM-JEEP (877-426-5337).

— 800-4ADODGE (800-423-6343).

— 866-RAMINFO (866-726-4636).

The OEM intends to send new contact information to existing Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram owners whose vehicles are still under warranty. Furthermore, the information will also be included on each brand Web site, in addition to being offered in 2010 DVD owner manual and quick-reference guide information.

Chrysler pointed out that its existing customer-care line, (800) 992-1997, will remain in operation.

In addition to enhancing customer service, officials contend the new phone lines will enable the company to quickly identify, track and resolve issues.

"In an effort to personalize our service and match customer expectations, we are creating distinct points of contact for our Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram customers," explained Pietro Gorlier, president and chief executive officer of Mopar Service, Parts and Customer Care for Chrysler Group.

"From a service standpoint, we want to add more value to our customers' experience with our vehicles," Gorlier continued.

"By establishing dedicated toll-free phone lines for each of our brands, we are creating a one-stop shop for customers to get specific information about their vehicle and promptly resolve any issues they may have," Gorlier concluded.
