TORONTO, Ontario — The Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council sent out a warning late last month notifying consumers of a dealership in the province that had its registration revoked for alleged deceptive practices.

OMVIC said that it took away the registration of Prestige Toys Ltd., as of Dec. 14 for apparently misleading customers about the histories of the vehicles they had bought. It was found that the dealership allegedly provided bills of sale that misrepresented the actual purchase price.

And as most know, it is mandated that dealers and salespeople be registered under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act if they want to buy, sell or lease vehicles.

Prestige Toys appealed the License Appeal Tribunal's decision to Divisional Court, but their request was denied as Tribunal's ruling was sustained.

The dealer then applied to appeal the Divisional Court's decision, but this was denied, as well.

OMVIC noted that Svetlana Lioubimova, the dealer's officer and director, is not currently registered under MVDA, as well.
