SAN DIEGO -

Costco Auto Program announced Tuesday that now halfway through its Holiday Sales Event with General Motors, the program has already had 55 percent more Costco members register to take advantage of its exclusive offerings compared to last year.

The Holiday Sales Event, which launched on Oct. 3, runs through Jan. 2.

“We’re happy to see that the exclusive savings and vehicle selection offered through the Holiday Sales Event resonates with Costco members,” Costco Auto Program executive vice president Rick Borg said in a news release. “It’s not surprising that the Chevrolet Silverado is the vehicle most requested by Costco members for personal and commercial use. It’s powerful, reliable and well-designed.”

New to this year’s list of exclusive Costco member offerings are three commercial models: the Chevrolet City Express, Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana.

In addition to most currently available GM incentives, along with their purchase or lease, members can also receive a Costco Cash Card after completing a Costco Auto Program survey.

During the Holiday Sales Event, the most popular segment is crossovers, which is only ahead of trucks by one percent, followed by SUVs, according to Costco Auto Program data.

The sales' list of top five most requested eligible models include the following vehicles:

  1. Chevrolet Silverado, 11.9 percent
  2. GMC Sierra, 9.1 percent
  3. Chevrolet Equinox, 6.9 percent
  4. Chevrolet Traverse, 5.9 percent
  5. Chevrolet Bolt, 5.8 percent
