HOUSTON -

Group 1 Automotive has added a former Deloitte executive to its board of directors, bringing the total number of board members up to 10.

The retailer announced Wednesday that joining its board effective immediately is Anne Taylor, who worked for Deloitte in such roles as its first chief strategy officer, managing partner of the Houston office and vice chairman during her 30-year career. She also headed up its global e-business.

Taylor was a board member at Deloitte and served on its U.S. and global nominating committees and CEO evaluation committee. She was also chair of the board's strategic investment committee and was a member of the Deloitte Consulting LLP board.

Group 1 brought its board member count up to 10 as it prepares to transition with several directors retiring over the next two to three years, per its board member retirement age policy. It now has eight independent directors and two non-independent directors.

“Anne brings a wealth of management, corporate governance and strategic planning experience to our board that will help us navigate the rapid pace of change in the automotive industry, as well as business overall,” Group 1 chairman Steve Quinn said in a news release.

Added president and chief executive officer Earl Hesterberg: “Anne has a great deal of high-level experience dealing with important, relevant issues, such as digital innovation, technology transformation and business disruptors, which will be a great benefit to the Group 1 team.”
