TORONTO, Ontario -

iPhone and iPad users can shop for cars even easier now, thanks to an upgrade announcement by autoTrader.ca.

The company says the major update to its free mobile application for iPhone and iPad devices is designed to offer users new functionality for car shopping on the go, and access to Canada’s largest automotive inventories.

More than half a million Canadians have downloaded the existing autoTrader.ca iOS app, the company reports, and the app has consistently earned 4.5 stars out of a 5-star rating based on speed, ease of use, locational intelligence and reliability.

The newly-enhanced app offers customers an ad upload feature to make it easier to list cars and photos on autoTrader using the iOS camera to scan the unit’s VIN, and more vehicle categories. Those new segments include motorcycles, RVs and trucks.

Upgrades also include an enhanced ad filtering system to search by price, color, mileage and more, and an all-new map showing dealer location.

“The goal of autoTrader.ca’s mobile app is to provide Canadians with a new and ultra-convenient way to browse the most cars in one place,” said Ian MacDonald, director of marketing. “Existing reviews show that we understand what the modern car buyer wants from an app, but now we are taking the experience a step further, based on feedback we have received via social channels such as Twitter, and reviews in the Appstore itself.”

The new app is available via the Apple Appstore.

AutoTrader.ca also reports that more than 50 percent of users currently browse the cars for sale feature in its app every day, and the company receives as much as 20 percent of its traffic via mobile or tablet devices, a number company officials predict will grow as consumers become more and more reliant on their mobile devices.
