Zubie is a connected-car technology company that provides real-time information about vehicles and drivers to help businesses manage their fleets.

At the International Car Rental Show in Las Vegas, Zubie announced an expansion of its offerings, launching a technology platform designed for fleets of rental and loaner vehicles. The platform — Zubie Rental Connect — helps operators of those fleets track and manage the fleets in a real-time environment, according to the company.

Zubie Rental Connect features what the company describes as “must-have” GPS tracking and geofencing capabilities. But the product also includes automated real-time fuel and odometer reporting capability, which the company says solves rental and loaner car operators’ problem of inaccurate fuel and mileage reporting.

That reporting is often done through manual inputting, Zubie says, adding that Zubie Rental Connect can improve data accuracy, increase revenue capture, optimize labor cost, and improve the customer experience in speed and accuracy of billing.

“Zubie Rental Connect empowers rental and loaner fleet operators to more efficiently manage operations by delivering accurate data around location, fuel and odometer readings,” Zubie chief executive officer Gary Tucker said in a news release. “For less than the cost of a tank of gas each month, Zubie Rental Connect is a connected-car solution with a measurable, observable impact on ROI.”

By addressing the challenge of optimizing “no-rev vehicles” though its idle inventory exception reporting, Zubie Rental Connect also allows managers control costs. The Zubie Rental Connect technology platform is also available as a data feed into existing counter systems through their API feed directly into the rental counter systems.
