FREDERICK, Md. -

ADESA Indianapolis of Plainfield, Ind., has won the National Auto Auction Association title of Midwest Chapter Auto Auction of the Year and is now in the running for the top NAAA honor, the Auto Auction of the Year Award for Excellence in Community Service.

The auction is the third of four total NAAA chapter winners the association will name for displaying outstanding public service efforts throughout the year, NAAA announced Wednesday.

Along with raising a notable $65,000 donation for diabetes research, NAAA said that ADESA Indianapolis has also been chosen for its local community involvement efforts this year.

“I am proud to announce ADESA Indianapolis as the Midwest Chapter Auto Auction of the Year during our celebration of National Auto Auction Week because the commitment to helping their community that extends throughout the entire organization stands as the best example of the public spiritedness shown by all our auction members,” NAAA Midwest chapter president Chad Anderson said in a news release. “We’re honored to have ADESA Indianapolis as part of our chapter and humbled by their dedicated actions to help those in need.”

Of the $65,000 that ADESA Indianapolis raised for JDFR, more than $36,000 came from a fundraising event that combined a wine and beer tasting session as well as both a silent and live auction, according to NAAA. The association said that more than 350 attendees bid on various handcrafted items created by the auction’s employees.

Meanwhile, other work that ADESA Indianapolis has done in the name of service includes supporting a local non-profit training center that welcomes youth interested learning basic auto maintenance and repair skills from Automotive Service Excellence certified experts.

On top of career coaching, students also receive mentoring instruction pertaining to responsibility, integrity and safety standards. Furthermore, in addition to providing a $2,000 cash gift to the program, the auction has already employed one of the center’s graduates, according to NAAA.

ADESA Indianapolis will not only be presented with a crystal trophy at NAAA’s annual convention in November, the auction will also be featured in NAAA’s member publications, receive a $5,000 prize and an additional $20,000 payable to a charity of the auction’s choice.

The annual convention is held in partnership with the National Remarketing Conference — part of Used Car Week, which is scheduled for Nov. 12-16 at the Westin Kierland Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz.
