Having reached more than $21 million in sales within a three-week period last month, GAA Classic Cars (GAACC) recently announced that March was the auction’s most successful month ever.

GAACC hosted the Jerry and June Smith No Reserve Collection Sale late last month, just three weeks after its annual spring sale held in early March.

The sale featured 261 vehicles, plus thousands of pieces of memorabilia collected by Jerry and June Smith, owners of the Memory Lane Classic Car Museum in Eatonton, Ga.

In addition to a 25-foot neon Buick dealership sign — the largest piece in the collection — two other prominent pieces of memorabilia included a Red Crown restored gas pump that went for $11,500, as well as a porcelain Super Greyhound motor fuel sign sold for $3,900. The sizable Buick dealership sign brought in $25,000.

According to GAACC, the top-selling vehicles to go at the late-March sale was a 2006 Black strip delete Ford GT that brought in $280,000, followed by two lemon twist yellow 1970 Superbirds that went for $165,000 and $120,000.

The auction’s annual spring sale in early March offered 541 cars, including 1932 and 1934 Fords from the Gary Copeland Collection.

“The spring sale which falls on the first weekend of March annually always draws a great crowd of both buyers and spectators, and this one did not disappoint,” GAACC said in a news release.

The annual sale’s top three selling vehicles included a yellow with black stripes 2005 Ford GT, a 1963 black/red Corvette and a 1961 black/red Impala, which brought in $282,000, $161,000 and $142,000, respectively.

In three months, GAACC is scheduled to host its next sale July 26 through July 28.
