RICHMOND, Va. -

In what consignment-to-retail company CarLotz coined in a news release as an “expansion into the Gateway into the West,” was its move to open a hub to serve the St. Louis metro area. The will open up the company’s unique approach to service, value and inventory to the St. Louis market.

CarLotz also revealed this week its new “roots” in the Rockies with a hub planned for Denver, to be located at 8120 West Tufts Avenue. The new “hub” has an opening date expected later this year.

As for the St. Louis-area hub, that  will be located just outside of the city at 1807 W Highway 50 in Fairview Heights, Ill.

“St. Louis is known for being the ‘Gateway to the West’ — we are thrilled to have this vibrant community be a part of our journey,” CarLotz founder and chief executive officer Michael Bor said in a news release.

“Our continued expansion will allow even more guests to experience the benefits that come with buying and selling through our unique consignment model,” Bor said. “Those real benefits often generate, on average, up to $1,000 or more in value for both sellers of vehicles and buyers of vehicles. We look forward to welcoming our St. Louis-area guests and becoming a part of the community.”

This marks CarLotz’s third location in the Midwest. The others  in the region are located in the Greater Chicago area.

.As far as the Denver launch, Bor said:  “Anticipation around this hub has been building and we are so excited to bring our unique consignment-to-retail model to the Mile High City. Coupled with the announcement of our exciting entry into St. Louis, we are continuing to expand across the country and into the Southern Rockies. It feels like we simply can’t grow fast enough.”

Bor added, “We remain grateful to our team members for helping to explain the benefits that come with buying and selling through our consignment model. Once our guest understands that the real, tangible benefits we provide often generate, on average, up to $1,000 or more in value, our job is done.”

This move goes along with expansion into the West, Southeast and the Midwest.

Carlotz also operates out of hubs in Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Illinois, Tennessee, Texas, Washington state and soon-to-be California.

Last week, Auto Remarketing reported CarLotz filed a Form 8-K with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Wednesday, explaining that its “profit-sharing corporate vehicle sourcing partner” has notified CarLotz that it has paused consignments to the company, given the condition of the wholesale vehicle market.

CarLotz declined to share the name of the sourcing partner, citing a legal agreement, but Auto Remarketing caught up with chief executive officer Michael Bor on Wednesday for additional context.  Read morea about that here.
