CHERRY HILL, N.J. -

Subaru achieved its best month of all time for certified pre-owned sales, according to Autodata Corp., but it wasn’t the only one celebrating a record in November.

With the best November ever for the overall CPO market as a backdrop, several other brands reached certified milestones and helped to keep the market going full steam ahead as year-end nears.

Starting with Subaru’s historic month, it notched 2,425 certified sales in November, which was a 19.2-percent year-over-year increase, Autodata said. Through 11 months, it has moved 22,872 CPO units (up 4.9 percent).

What’s more, Ford’s Lincoln brand — in just 11 months — already achieved its strongest CPO year on record, said Todd Fites, the automaker’s national CPO sales manager. Lincoln moved 17,839 certified units from January through November, which was a 27-percent hike over the same period of 2011.

Fites expects the combined Ford, Lincoln and Mercury CPO sales for full-year 2012 to be the second-highest total ever for the automaker.

Through 11 months, it had moved 156,747 certified vehicles, which put it 32.3 percent ahead of the prior year’s pace.

In November, Lincoln sold 1,405 CPO rides, which was down 8.5 percent from November 2011, and there were 12,715 Ford/Mercury CPO sales (up 35.5 percent).

“Another solid month for the Ford and Lincoln certified pre-owned programs,” Fites told Auto Remarketing.

“I credit the entire CPO team with the tremendous progress we have made this year against our five-year business plan goal of growing our CPO share to our new-vehicle share levels,” he continued. “Our dealer body, suppliers, ad agency and the entire Ford and Lincoln general office and field staff have embraced the challenge of growing the CPO business.”

Mazda has its second-best certified month of all time with 2,618 CPO sales in November. This was up 59.8 percent year-over-year, said Mazda’s Roger Basa, and was less than 200 units shy of the record, which was set in September.

The automaker also reached its highest CPO enrolled dealer count at 608, added Basa, who is the manager of CPO and remarketing.

Through 11 months, it has moved 24,460 CPO units (up 42.8 percent).

Meanwhile, Toyota recorded its strongest November on record, with 27,880 CPO sales (up 11.9 percent year-over-year). Year-to-date, Toyota has sold 302,480 certified vehicles, compared to 302,724 CPO sales in the year-ago period.

“Our New York Region contributed greatly to our record-setting month, as significant increases in sales were seen in several of the areas most impacted by Hurricane Sandy,” said Mia Phillips, retail sales & operations manager at TCUV/TRAC.

“Overall, CPO business was particularly strong in all areas of the country last month.  The fantastic news for Toyota is that the great used-car month did not negatively impact our new-car month, as new-car sales were up 20 percent in November — proving that new- and used-car sales can co-exist quite nicely,” she continued.

Likewise, Hyundai also achieved its best-ever November.  It moved 5,786 certified vehicles for a 19.9-percent gain. So did Volkswagen, which moved 6,797 certified units for the month (up 27 percent).
