DETROIT -

General Motors said Tuesday it is launching an omnichannel used-car sales platform called CarBravo, where consumers will be able to shop for pre-owned vehicles from both dealer inventory and a national central stock.

Non-GM used vehicles will also be included in the program, which lets consumers shop online, in-store or a combination of both.

“CarBravo will give customers more choice and access to shop significantly expanded inventories of both the dealer and a national central stock of GM used vehicles. Importantly, the program features will also be offered on non-GM used vehicles,” said Steve Carlisle, who is the executive vice president at GM and president of GM North America, in a news release.

“CarBravo is designed to provide customers the convenience to shop how they want, where they want — online, at the dealership or both,” he said.

The program will utilize GM’s new digital retail platform, which provides dealer pricing, vehicle history reports and 360-degree vehicle imagery.

GM also has set inspection and reconditioning standards for all vehicles in the CarBravo program.

And consumers who want to sell their ride also can get guaranteed online offer for their car, via Black Book, even if they don’t buy a car on CarBravo.

GM already has begun dealer enrollment in the program and plans to launch the platform this spring.

One of the stores that participated in the pilot of CarBravo was Ingersoll Auto in Danbury, Conn.

In the release, dealer principal Todd Ingersoll said: “Used vehicles are a significant part of our business. We are excited to join GM in exceeding our customers’ expectations and continuing to provide a world-class experience.”

Less than a year ago, rival Ford partnered with its dealers to launch a digital used-vehicle marketplace, powered by Autotrader, that provides an expanded selection of Ford certified pre-owned vehicles and a more streamlined, flexible way for used-car shoppers and the automaker’s dealers to connect.

With this Ford Blue Advantage platform, which launched in February during NADA Show 2021, Ford dealers are able to list and sell their certified pre-owned inventory through a single platform — and do so with an additional tier of certification under which more vehicles would be eligible.
