HOUSTON -

Group 1 Automotive has added former S.C. Johnson executive Steven Stanbrook to its board, expanding the number of directors to 10.

In a news release Thursday, Group 1 said Stanbrook spent more than 30 years in the global consumer packaged goods sector, most recently as the chief operating officer for international markets at S.C. Johnson, where he retired in 2015.

Prior to his time there, Stanbrook held leadership posts with Sara Lee Corp. and CompuServe.

“We are pleased to add someone of Steven's vast business and international operating experience to our board of directors,” Group 1 chairman Stephen Quinn said in a news release.

He is currently on the respective boards of Imperial Brands plc, Cott Corporation and Vollrath Company, LLC; he is also an executive advisory partner at Wind Point Partners and is on the board of Voyant Beauty LLC, one of its portfolio companies.

In the past, Stanbrook was on the boards of Chiquita Brands International, Inc., and Hewitt Associates, Inc.

“Steven’s extensive knowledge of global markets is invaluable to Group 1 as we continue to operate and grow in the U.K. and Brazilian markets.  We are delighted to have him join us, effective immediately,” Group 1 president and chief executive officer Earl Hesterberg said in a news release.
