NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. -

The next line of succession in National Automobile Dealers Association leaders has been decided.

Current NADA vice chairman Charlie Gilchirst, who is president of Texas-based Gilchrist Automotive, was elected 2019 president by NADA’s board of directors during their meeting in Newport, Calif., on Tuesday.

Chosen to be the vice chairman for next year is Rhett Ricart, who is president of Ohio’s Ricart Automotive Group.

Rick Ricart, who is the vice president and director of sales and marketing for Ricart Automotive Group, will be among the speakers at Used Car Week next month in Scottsdale, Ariz.

“We are facing many challenges, but we will also have many opportunities as we journey throughout the year,” Gilchrist said in a news release. “With each dealer’s involvement and the great NADA team, we can navigate and adapt to any challenge in our industry.”

Ricart added: “I am deeply honored to serve as NADA vice chairman and look forward to working with our accomplished NADA board and the extremely talented NADA staff.”

Willis Chevrolet-Buick/Willis Ford president Bill Willis has been re-elected as NADA secretary, and Shuman Chrysler-Dodge-Jeep-Ram president Bob Shuman was re-elected as treasurer for next year.

These terms will start at NADA Show 2019.
