NEW YORK -

Carvana has entered the Big Apple, its largest market to date.

The online used-car retailer announced Thursday that it has launched as-soon-as-next-day vehicle delivery in New York City, and car shoppers in the city can now shop Carvana.com's over 10,000 vehicles and schedule free vehicle delivery, all online.

Carvana brought attention to its launch in the city with a one-day integrated campaign throughout the Manhattan area that included a parade event featuring a motorcade of five Carvana car haulers carrying vehicles.

The celebratory parade event featured Carvana car haulers carrying vehicles wrapped in enormous takeout plastic bags to reflect NYC-style delivery, showing how residents can now order a car online and have it delivered to their doors, similar to food and plenty of other items.

“New York City is the largest market we’ve launched to date, so it’s fitting we give it our largest celebration,” Carvana founder and chief executive officer Ernie Garcia said in a news release. “New Yorkers are known for being mobile-first, so we’re proud to be the first to give them a fully start-to-finish mobile car buying experience; a service they’ve become accustomed to for much of their purchasing decisions.”

Additionally, paired with the parade event was a competition for a chance to win a year of free Postmates or a credit with the company for up to $5,000, by sharing photos of the parade on social media handles using the campaign hashtag #TheNYCWayToBuyACar and #sweepstakes.

Along the parade route, there were over 250 digital on-street LinkNYC units displaying Carvana advertising, as well as a live social feed of people online using the campaign hashtag, the company said.

Carvana now has market presence in almost 80 cities across the U.S.
