ORLANDO, Fla. -

Autonomous mobility solutions company Beep says its advisory board members play an important role in the company’s long-term strategic direction and decisions.

On Tuesday, the company announced that former Volkswagen Group of North America chief executive officer Hinrich Woebcken would be contributing to that direction and those decisions as its newest advisory board member.

Florida-based Beep, which offers autonomous mobility services to fleet owners and operators in controlled speed environments across the public and private sector, said its board includes “distinguished transportation industry leaders and executives.”

The company recently deployed what it says are the first autonomous shuttles in Central Florida at Lake Nona, Fla. Beep says that in the first four months of service, the shuttles have transported nearly 10,000 passengers.

Beep also says it is the first distributor for autonomous vehicle market company NAVYA’s driverless electric shuttles in the United States and is serving as the exclusive dealer for NAVYA in Florida.

The company’s offerings include route planning and fully managed autonomous vehicle transportation services, and it says its offerings are designed to provide “safe, clean, and efficient movement of passengers between defined locations on private and public roads.”

In addition to his role as president and chief executive officer for Volkswagen Group of America, Woebcken served as regional chief executive officer for Volkswagen North America. That included activities in Canada and Mexico.

Volkswagen Group of America includes Volkswagen, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Electrify America and Volkswagen Credit, and prior to his time there, Woebcken worked in the automotive and manufacturing industry for 30 years.

During that time, he worked with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers. In addition, he served nearly 10 years as senior vice president for global procurement and driving dynamics with the BMW Group.

Beep is funded by Blue Lagoon Capital, and Woebcken recently joined that company as a venture partner.

Blue Lagoon, which describes itself as a privately held venture capital firm with a focus on long-term value creation, possesses a portfolio of investments including Beep and companies such as fleet orchestration platform Bestmile S.A., enterprise legal services provider UnitedLex and most recently, Lemongrass, a professional and managed service provider of SAP enterprise applications running on AWS hyperscale cloud infrastructure.
