FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. -

You might be used to ordering everyday items like peanut butter, detergent or headphones on Amazon's Prime Now service.

But a vehicle test-drive? With the latest news out of Hyundai, that is now possible.

Hyundai Motor America has teamed up with Amazon for a program that lets car shoppers in the Los Angeles and Orange County, Calif., areas set up test drives of the 2017 Hyundai Elantra through the Amazon Prime Now service.

As part of a two-weekend event (Aug. 20-21 and Aug. 27-28), shoppers in those Southern California markets simply schedule a 45- to 60-minute test drive through Prime Now and a “trained expert” will bring the car to them.

If the shopper wants to buy the car after the test drive,  he or she can visit a local Hyundai store to finalize the purchase.

For those not familiar with Prime Now, it provides expedited delivery on everything from appliances to pet supplies for Amazon Prime members in various markets throughout the U.S.

“With our all-new Elantra and Elantra Eco in dealerships now, we are excited to be the first to team up with Amazon to give customers a tailored test-drive experience," said Dean Evans, chief marketing officer of Hyundai Motor America. “We know people are looking for a new way to experience our vehicles, and with the convenience of Amazon's Prime Now service, 'Prime Now. Drive Now.' is an innovative solution we are testing to modernize today's automotive shopping experience.”
