SAN FRANCISCO -

Amid the heat stemming from rising summer temperatures, consumers are flocking to sports and performance brands like Porsche, says Brian Miller, senior web analyst, strategic insights at Jumpstart Automotive Media.

Jumpstart Automotive Media recently announced new insights into the top fastest growing brands after taking a close look at which brands experienced the largest boost in shopper interest and searches across its network of publishing websites last month.

According to Miller, European brands with sports and performance models, such as Porsche, Fiat and Maserati, have seen the most interest growth recently.

“As summer has been approaching, we've noticed more interest in the sports and performance brands, especially those from Europe,” Miller said. “We often see a bump because of new entrants to the market people are curious about, but in this case many of these are vehicles that have been popular for some time with impressive staying power among performance enthusiasts.”

The top five fastest-growing brands last month include the following list of brands, as well as the percent each brand’s consumer interest percentage increased compared to April, according to Jumpstart data:

  • Porsche: +19 percent
  • Fiat: +18 percent
  • Maserati: +16 percent
  • BMW: +14 percent
  • MINI: +13 percent

Jumpstart found that the Porsche 911, Fiat 500, Maserati Ghibli, and BMW X5 MINI Cooper Hardtop notably contributed to the month-over-month growth for the five top growing brands.

In May, shopper interest for the 911 model grew by 36-percent to gain 28 spots, while the Fiat 500 saw interest go up by 22 percent and climb 31 spots month-over-month.

Moreover, compared to April, shopper interest in the Maserati Ghibli model rose 25-percent and gained 22 spots, the X5 saw a rise of 23-percent and gained 18 spots and the MINI Cooper Hardtop saw shopper interest increase 15-percent and gain 14 spots.
