Subaru and Jaguar topped the overall mainstream and luxury brand categories, respectively, in ALG’s third annual Pre-Owned Value Awards announced last week, while Nissan and Mercedes-Benz led the individual model portion with three wins each.

The 2019 Pre-Owned Value Awards, also known as POVAs, recognize the 2-year-old used vehicles that are expected to have the lowest forecasted depreciation over the next three years.

“With both certified pre-owned sales and used-vehicle values transacting near record highs, the importance of retained value among used-vehicle shoppers is more important than ever,” ALG senior vice president Eric Lyman said in a news release.

“New-vehicle transaction prices and rising interest rates are making late-model CPO vehicles a more attractive option for traditional new-car buyers,” Lyman said. “ALG’s Pre-Owned Value Award measures depreciation and resale value, two leading drivers of purchase consideration in the new-vehicle market, and applies them to used vehicles, creating a beacon for value-oriented buyers.

Subaru won the POVA in the mainstream overall category, with Jaguar earning premium honors.

Nissan earned wins in the premium sportscar, minivan and midsize categories, while Mercedes three wins were in the midsize commercial, full-size commercial and premium midsize segments.
