Toyota and Porsche shoppers can rest easy when considering their next vehicle’s expected deprecation before buying.

The two brands are winners of the mainstream and luxury categories, respectively, in the 2018 Edmunds Best Retained Value Awards.

The awards are based on the 2018 model-year vehicles with the highest projected residual values after five years.

Toyota has five model-level awards, and Porsche earned three.

With five model-level awards, Toyota models beat out those of all other automakers for number of wins in the mainstream category this year.

The five winning Toyota models include the 2018 Sequoia, the 2018 Tundra, the 2018 4Runner, the 2018 Tacoma and the 2018 Sienna.

Meanwhile, Porsche’s three model-level awards for the luxury category include the 2018 Panamera, the 2018 911 and the 2018 Macan.

“Whether leasing or buying, savvy shoppers know that a vehicle’s retained value plays a big role in how far your dollar goes when getting a new vehicle,” Edmunds senior consumer advice editor Matt Jones said in a news release. “The brands and models receiving honors in this year’s Edmunds Best Retained Value Awards are good bets to hold their value down the road, which can help keep monthly lease payments low or maximize a trade-in price.”

This year, the program awared 17 segment-level category winners.
